Furman Adds Central Florida to 2015 FCS Victories Over FBS
The Furman Paladins, of the Southern Conference, added Central Florida to the 2015 FCS victories over FBS list, pulling off a 16-15 shocker in Orlando.
There is plenty to write home about when it comes to Furman Paladin football. There are many 1-AA and FCS playoff appearances in the recent past, including a 1988 National Championship. So the win at Central Florida, of the AAC, fits nicely into the annals of Paladin football. So does the 55-yard field goal from Jon Croft Hollingsworth that did the deed for the Paladins on Saturday evening. Dear Mom, that was a long one. The Paladins may be a team to watch in the Southern Conference. They opened the season at home with a close 38-35 loss to Big South power, Coastal Carolina, now numero uno in the nation in the FCS and coming soon to a Sun Belt, and FBS, field near you. Paladin Nation now gets some home cooking and a tilt against VMI on Saturday. Anyone know the “Rat Dance?”
Four FCS Victories Over FBS in the First Week of 2015 Season
It was only two years ago that the Central Florida Knights won a BCS bowl. Time flies when you’re having fun. And when you’re not? Oh, George, what have you done for me lately? That big desk upstairs might be looking mighty inviting right now. Central Florida is now 0-3 on the year after starting the season on the wrong foot with a loss at home to Florida International 15-14. Tough luck, but they didn’t like that in Orlando and they won’t like this one any better.
Cue the highlights of the Paladins versus the Knights, a game for the (middle) ages. I think there might be a field goal in there somewhere.
