Liberty Flames Football Wins at Appalachian State 55-48 in OT
The Liberty Flames knocked off regional rival Appalachian State for yet another FCS victory over an FBS team this season.
Liberty, an FCS member with FBS aspirations, showed they have the fire to play with the big boys when they defeated Appalachian State on the Mountaineers’ home field 55-48 in overtime Saturday. The Flames have made no secret of their burning desire to join an FBS conference, but so far have had no takers. It was reported in USA Today earlier this year that Liberty had wanted to join the Sun Belt Conference, but the attraction was not mutual. See this link to read that story in USA Today: http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2014/08/19/college-football-liberty-flames-fcs-fbs-development-expansion/14299979/ Now, Appalachian State, in their first year in the FBS, goes down as a Sun Belt victim of Liberty and the FCS. In the immortal words of C+C Music Factory, “Things that make you go, hmmm.”
