FCS Victories Over FBS: Portland State Bombs North Texas

The Portland State Vikings bombed the North Texas Mean Green, 66-7, in a lopsided win in Denton, Texas, for another in the 2015 FCS victories over FBS.

In fact, this is the second time this season Portland State has added to the FCS victories over FBS ledger.  The first was the season opening win at Washington State, 24-17.  Making a habit of it bodes well for Interim Head Coach Bruce Barnum.

Portland State rolled up 670 yards to 198 for North Texas.  That, and a 31-point second quarter, sealed the deal. The Vikings, 4-1 overall,  are in the hunt in the Big Sky at 1-1 with a home game next against Montana State.

Four FCS Victories Over FBS in the First Week of 2015 Season

North Texas took it hard.  Not only was homecoming ruined, but they dumped head man Dan McCarney.  The Mean Green have started the season 0-5 and have given up just over 49 points per game while scoring just under 15 points per game.

North Texas has their work cut out for them in a short week as Western Kentucky comes to town.  The embattled North Texas defense will be severely tested by the high-powered offense of WKU in the Thursday night C-USA contest.  The Hilltoppers average over 42 points per game.

Here are the highlights of the game.  If Portland State jumping out to a 66-0 lead does not tell you the story, then the North Texas defensive woes are well illustrated here.
